The MGA’s sculpture park offers a great opportunity to let your art-viewing habits off the leash as you wander around the grounds, finding different vantage points to look at artworks against the backdrop of Harry Seidler’s architecture, the Dandenong Ranges or the gallery’s landscaped gardens.
In 2011, MGA celebrated its 21st birthday, this was a significant year for MGA and its community. To commemorate this important event, the City of Monash staged a sculpture competition to fund the design and fabrication of an important sculpture for the MGA Sculpture Park.
Cliff Burtt was announced the winner ot the sculpture competition and his works Chord (a) and Chord (b) were installed on 24 August 2011.
You can watch the work as it settles into its new surroundings by oxidising (changing colour due to environmental factors) on our flickr page.
