ART IN THE PARK: NATURE’S ART GARDEN

Take a journey with family and friends through nature and the arts

Monash Gallery of Art: Sunday 24 November 12–4pm

Help create the City Of Monash’s biggest chalk drawing!

Friends of MGA need your help to create the City of Monash’s biggest chalk drawing. On Sunday 24 November budding artists are invited to get involved by responding to the theme “nature’s garden”. Come along and draw your biggest and best, butterfly, flower, favourite pet, insect or abstract composition and add to the biggest drawing in the City of Monash.  All chalk supplied.

Art in the Park is the Friends of MGA’s annual community art day when visitors can learn more about the gallery and enjoy a range of free art activities for the whole family. Adults can participate in their favourite art workshops and children can explore their creative potential in supervised art classes, chalk drawing, face painting and lots more.

The music stage will feature the popular Mystic Trio. Visitors who have followed the independence movement in East Timor will know the groups passionate songs of freedom for the people of Timor-Leste. Also on the bill is the acclaimed Avila College Choir - directed by Mrs Kate Gould.

African drumming devotees will know of Simone Lang, founder & director of Drummergirl who will be demonstrating and running a FREE workshop for adults and teenagers.

Art lovers and those wanting to participate have the chance to learn directly from local tutors in pastel drawing, life drawing, digital photography, Chinese brush painting and glass mosaic workshops. For those looking for other forms of colour and excitement try Scottish country dancing, African drumming demonstration and workshop–it’s all FREE!

Bring a picnic rug and enjoy the MGA’s beautiful parklands and the gourmet treats from the [email protected] and BBQ.

MGA is the home of Australian photography and Art in the Park is a day when visitors can learn more about the gallery and enjoy a range of free art activities for the whole family.

Workshops and activities are free. Spaces in workshops are limited.
